ABOUT THE ARTIST

Joey Holder is an artist interested in the structures and hierarchies of the technological and natural world and how these systems are constantly abstracted. Mixing elements of biology, nanotechnology and natural history against computer program interfaces, screen savers and measuring devices, she sees no object or substance in any fixed state or with any permanent definition, identity or order; everything is transforming and morphing into something else; everything is a mutant and a hybrid.

Holder was recently shortlisted for the Converse/Dazed Emerging Artist Award 2013; included in Vestige – The Future is Here, Design Museum, London and Multinatural Histories, Harvard Museum of Natural History, Massachusetts, USA. Holder is currently exhibiting at The Royal Standard with a solo project titled ‘HYDROZOAN’ the result of a six month research commission from NEAR NOW (Nottingham) and ‘FOAM’ a sound commission currently touring the UK. Upcoming projects include ‘This Dust’ a group show in New York and ‘Yearbook’ and group show and publication at Enclave in London.
